GLP-1 receptor agonists are increasingly prescribed for diabetes and weight management, yet important gaps remain in provider knowledge regarding their full adverse effect profile, contraindications, and appropriate monitoring strategies. This activity will review common and serious complications associated with GLP-1 agonist therapy, including gastrointestinal, pancreatic, ophthalmic, thyroid, and other organ system effects. Participants will examine evidence-based monitoring protocols, patient risk stratification, laboratory surveillance recommendations, and patient education strategies to support the safe and effective use of these medications and improve early recognition and management of adverse events.
