The Treatment of Patients with DVT & PE

Variation in the recognition, risk stratification, consultation pathways, and treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), can lead to fragmented care, delayed intervention, increased mortality, preventable complications, and inconsistent patient outcomes. The activity was developed to address gaps in clinicians' understanding of VTE disease burden, identification of high-risk patients, guideline-directed management, and multidisciplinary care pathways.

Target Audience

This program is developed for physicians and other health professionals.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the epidemiology, risk factors, and clinical presentation of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
  2. Identify patients who may benefit from multidisciplinary VTE management pathways and advanced catheter-based treatment options.
  3. Recognize opportunities to standardize VTE care processes to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
